Sandpoint added 500 new Jobs

Idaho’s jobless rate bounced up nearly 1% last month while here in Bonner County we saw that unemployment came down to 8.6% in May according to the Department of Labor.

My outlook is that we could be seeing huge numbers in the jobless rate but while the nation lost nearly three and half million manufacturing jobs since 2000, our Sandpoint area has added 500 manufacturing jobs during the same time frame.

Smart moves and excellent leadership at Cygnus, Thorne, Quest and Unicep have helped create a foundation that just may be strong enough to help our community through this recession.
